According to TCA 62-13-303, licenses shall only be granted to persons who bear a good reputation for honesty, trustworthiness, integrity and competence to transact the business of affiliate broker in a manner to safeguard the interest of the public. A license will only be granted after satisfactory proof of such qualifications has been presented to the commission.
All applications will be carefully scrutinized by the Tennessee Real Estate Commission. In addition, candidates will have criminal background checks conducted by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation as well as the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The Tennessee Real Estate Commission also requires applicants to complete a series of six qualifying questions on exam day meant to review any past activity that may prevent an applicant for qualifying for a license as well as confirming the age requirement. Answering “yes” to questions 1 through 5 could decrease a candidate’s ability to achieve a license in Tennessee.
